This Week: A Train-Station Cafe Proposal, an MS Benefit and a Fire Company Recruiting Session

Good Monday morning, Lower Merion and Narberth residents. Here's an assortment of things happening and things to know this week, Monday, Oct. 7 through Sunday, Oct. 13:

  • Lower Merion's BOC Building and Planning Committee is set to vote Wednesday night on permission for the Cynwyd Station Cafe and Tea Room to operate at the SEPTA stop building for which it's named. 
  • Lower Merion's Plan Commission meets Monday night to consider development proposals for Welsh Valley Middle School, Bala Cynwyd Middle School, East Wynnewood Road and BMW of the Main Line.
  • The Lower Merion Conservancy and Lower Merion Township Environmental Advisory Council are holding a Stormwater Runoff 5K from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at Flat Rock Park.
  • Narberth Borough Council meets in a caucus session at 8 p.m. Wednesday.
  • The Merion Fire Company of Ardmore on Greenfield Avenue in Ardmore will be holding a recruitment open house on at 6:30 p.m. Thursday. More information on the fire company is available at merionfireco.org.
  • Main Line restaurants including Town Hall, Primo’s Hoagie, Zoe’s Kitchen, Verdad, Hope’s Cookies, Yang Ming and FruitFlowers are cooking at Culinary Fest this Thursday at Sunrise Senior Living in Haverford. Donation for entry is $15 or more; proceeds benefit the Multiple Sclerosis Society. The event runs from 4-7 p.m. at Sunrise Senior Living, 217 Montgomery Ave. in Haverford.
  • Attorney and Ardmore resident Peter Vogt will receive special recognition at the National Foundation for Celiac Awareness 10th Anniversary Celebration, being held at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the Arts Ballroom, 1324 Locust St. in Philadelphia.
