Sadly for him, not stopping made the hit a serious crime. Depending on the circumstances, there would have been no charges if he had stopped. As it is, he's goin' to jail.

Oh that would be wonderful. But I think it's too small. Iron Hill seems to want a larger space, maybe on par with the new Jack McShea's or something like that. But wouldn't it be so great to have a nice brewpub in Suburban Square?

Agreed. I strongly support a place like Iron Hill locating to Ardmore, but the concerns of the local neighbors are in this case perfectly valid and should not be ignored. I came into this article expecting silly ticky-tack arguments against the brewery, but it is extremely busy in that area, and it is not really accessible by foot for most of Ardmore, so people would be driving there.
I wonder if Iron Hill could look into a location on County Line or Haverford Road? There seem to be lots of appropriate spaces there.

Where are you getting the $900,000 figure from? I read $301,000.

Right on, Aidan. I save $30 a month by taking SEPTA instead of driving and parking, and that is not even counting the money I would have to spend on gas or car insurance. Would probably be more like $60-70 a month. And even better, I get to read on the train every day!

It will for the next year, true, but I think the sharing problem doesnt really apply with the smart card system. So many people will be using either an existing credit card with a smart-chip on it, or their smart phones, that sharing will be pretty difficult.

I don't know about that, Lou. Tired Hands opened about a year and a half ago, and it is hands down one of the top gastropubs in the entire Philly area, and has had praise heaped on it from all sorts of publications. Jules Thin Crust just opened in the Ardmore Ave shopping center, looks like a nice and different pizza place. Frutti Yummi replaced Coldstone and seems to be doing quite well. The state of dining in Ardmore really doesn't seem so bad.

ReplyGood riddance. The owner's childish and pathetic behavior to block the opening of The St. James convinced my wife and I to never dine at Plate.

ReplyThis sounds ominous. Are they thinking of developing / getting rid of the parks?

The reduction in rates is kinda laughable, but the increase in maximum monthly or weekly trips on a pass seems to address a big need, from what I read from the town-hall meetings.
