Author Visit, Park Plans, More To Know This Week

Five things residents of Ardmore, Merion, Wynnewood, Penn Wynne and Haverford should know the week of April 22-28.

1. Lower Merion School District's Board of School Directors will meet after a Communications Committee meeting on Monday, April 22. The committee meeting begins at 7 p.m. in the ardministration building's board room (301 E Montgomery Ave, Ardmore). The agenda will be posted here when available. 2. Do you use Shortridge Memorial Park in Wynnewood? Lower Merion Township wants to know what you think of the park. A workshop addressing the master plan for Shortridge Memorial Park, will be held Monday from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. at St. Katherine Day School (930 Bowman Ave, Wynnewood). 3. Penn Wynne Library Sale, Spring Cleanup, More To Know This Week

Five things residents of Ardmore, Merion, Wynnewood and Penn Wynne should know the week of April 15-21.

1. Tax Day: If you still haven't filed your taxes, Monday is the deadline. 2. Lower Merion School District's Board of Directors will meet at 8 p.m. Monday in the Lower Merion High School auditorium. The meeting location change is to accomodate a larger audience, as the board will recognize the boys' basketball team for their state title. Under discussion at the meeting will be adoption of the proposed final 2013-14 Budget. View the agenda. 3. Lower Merion's Board of Commissioners meets at 8 p.m. on Wednesday in the township building's second floor board room (75 E Lancaster Ave, Ardmore). 1. Lower Merion's Board of School Directors meets at 8 p.m. Monday in the district administrative building's first floor board room (301 E Montgomery Ave, Ardmore). Plans for a new, expanded Whole Foods are in motion:  Lower Merion Planning Commission will hear the tentative sketch plan for Whole Foods Market's expansion, which involves consolidating eight properties, demolishing seven buildings, and constructing a new 45,000 square-foot Whole Foods, on Monday night. Five things residents of Ardmore, Merion, Wynnewood, Penn Wynne and Haverford should know the week of April 1-6.

1. This week, temperatures are expected to average in the upper 40s the beginning of the week, and mid-50s toward the end of the week, according to the National Weather Service. 2. Lower Merion's Board of Commissioners meet Wednesday night in committee. On the agenda are approvals to fill police vacancies, and updates on Bala Cynwyd, Gladwyne and Ardmore library renovations and repairs. Five things Ardmore, Merion and Wynnewood residents should know March 24-30.

1. Happy spring: it looks like we may be rounding out the first week of spring with some decidedly wintry weather. A Winter Weather advisory has been issued through 6 p.m. Monday, according to the National Weather Service. Snow accumulations of 2 to 4 inches are expected. 2. Lower Merion School District students are on spring break this week. All schools are closed this week and will reopen Monday, April 1. There will also be no Lower Merion school board committee meetings this week. 3. Passover begins Monday evening, March 25, and runs through Tuesday, April 2. Correction (2:20 p.m. Monday):  Representatives of St. Charles Seminary will not be attending Shortridge Civic's meeting Monday night, but Shortridge representatives will provide an update on the seminary's plans. 1. Shortridge Civic Association meets at 7:30 p.m. Monday night at St. Katherine's Day School, 930 Bowman Ave. WP Realty will update attendees on the upcoming Whole Foods expansion. Both Ardmore Progressive Civic Association and ArdWood Civic Association meet Monday night.  Ardmore Progressive Civic Association meets at 7 p.m. at Mount Calvary Baptist Church, 127 Walnut Ave, Ardmore.  Ardwood Civic meets at 7:15 p.m. at Household of Faith Deliverance Church at the intersection of Linwood and Athens in Ardmore. 2. Church Conversion Plans, Jazz, More This Week

  1. Plans to convert First Baptist Church of Ardmore into five condominium units will go before the Zoning Hearing Board on Thursday night. 1. Woodside Road between Lancaster Avenue and Montgomery Avenue is scheduled to be closed again Monday and Tuesday for Comcast work. 2. A founder of Lower Merion United—"a grass-roots non-partisan organization looking to engage Lower Merion Township residents in legislative advocacy to end gun violence"—will speak to the Merion Civic Association at their regular meeting on Tuesday. 1. Monday is Presidents Day. Find out what's open and what's closed on Monday. Trash collection in Lower Merion will be on a normal schedule this week despite the holiday. 2. The Lower Merion Board of School Directors will meet at 8 p.m. Tuesday in the administration building's first floor board room (301 E Montgomery Ave, Ardmore).
