City Sports will open its new, larger “concept” store within Suburban Square in Ardmore on Saturday, company officials said. Taking over the space previously occupied by Talbots, the 8,000 square-foot store will feature a “refreshed and fully integrated shopping experience, including the brand’s new women’s concept,” according to a recent corporate statement. The focus on women includes “apparel and fit consultants,” and what the company claims is the most comprehensive assortment of sports bras in the Western world (check out the “Bra Finder” here), along with a large selection of training pants, yoga and pilates gear. At the other end of the courtyard, Talbots closed its doors last week. But Mark Bachus, the shopping center’s general manager—though frustrated at times—is not…

Apple will re-open Monday, Sept. 19. Pierre Deux is liquidating.
First in a series about changes at Suburban Square in Ardmore. * The Apple Store on St. James Place in Suburban Square is closed for the week, scheduled to re-open Monday (Sept. 19). “They are doing renovations—some work to the entryway,” said Mark Bachus, the shopping center’s general manager. “They are making some changes to the interior, and they had to move a couple of sprinkler heads, so that forces the tenant to actually close down for a period of time until they get the sprinkler back up.” The Apple Store website refers customers to the store in King of Prussia during the week it is shuttered. Bachus affectionately calls the Apple Store “the Beast,” a stalwart, A-list retailer even in a shopping center that is more than …
