Vehicle Stolen, DUI Arrest Among Ardmore Police Incidents

A roundup of calls to police the week of April 8-21 in Ardmore, Wynnewood and Merion Station.

Theft of Vehicle On April 15, it was reported that a white 2005 Ford Explorer SUV was parked at 11:15 a.m. in front of a building in the 100 block of Sheldon Lane in Ardmore. By about 3 p.m., it was gone. The victim said she left the keys in the center consol because it was equipped with a keypad entry system. There was no broken glass on the scene. Theft From Car A tablet computer, bag of loose change, Samsung Bluetooth phone earpiece and power inverter car to outlet electric conversion cord were taken from a car parked in the 600 block of Montgomery School Lane in Wynnewood.  The victim said he parked his car in his driveway at 8 p.m. on April 15, and returned the following morning at 8 a.m. The car had been unlocked. 5-Foot-Tall $500 Obelisks Stolen, Police Say

Two 5-foot-tall obelisks were stolen from a Haverford home's front yard last week, police said.

Two 5-foot-tall wrought iron obelisks went missing from a yard in Haverford last week, Lower Merion police said at a Monday briefing. The obelisks, valued at $500 each, were stolen from a yard on the 400 block of W Montgomery Avenue sometime between April 7 and 8, police said. Drunken Ardmore Man Calls Cops, Tells Them To Break Down Door, Police Say

The 21-year-old was cited for public drunkenness, according to Lower Merion police.

A 21-year-old Ardmore man was cited for public drunkenness after he called police to ask them to break down his door Wednesday night, police said at a Monday briefing. Around 12:44 a.m. on April 11, police were dispatched following a call from an agitated man who told police he was being locked out of his apartment by his roommates, according to the report. Police found the man pacing on the unit block of W Lancaster Avenue in Ardmore, smelling of alcohol, disheveled, and covered in dirt and debris, according to the report. The man said he was locked out and wanted police to force entry into his apartment. Police refused, and asked the man to settle the issue with his roommates, and the man refused, police said. Jewelry, Cash Taken in Merion Burglary, Police Say

Lower Merion police reported the following incidents to news media at a Monday briefing. Theft: A white Android smartphone valued at $120 was stolen from the Ardmore Community Center on April 1, police said. The complainant placed his phone in a zipped sweatpants pocket and left the pants on the side of the gym while he went to play basketball; the phone was missing when he returned. Criminal mischief: Sometime between 11 p.m. on April 2 and 7:20 a.m. on April 3, three tires were flattened on a car on the 100 block of Walnut Avenue in Ardmore, according to the report. $775 Jewelry Theft from Harry's Treasures, Police Say

The incident occurred on March 29.

Two pieces of jewelry worth a total of $775 were stolen from Harry’s Treasures in Ardmore last week, Lower Merion police said at a Monday briefing. The owner told police that two middle-aged women and two women in their 20s entered the store around 3 p.m. on March 29 and began perusing the store. One of the women purchased a $10 item and tried to purchase a larger item, but the card was declined, the report states. The women left the store, then returned about 10 minutes later, asking to see a bracelet that was in the counter display case. When the clerk removed the bracelet, one of the other women asked to see a ring in a display counter, according to the report. Public drunkenness: A 54-year-old Haverford woman was cited for public drunkenness at Golden Bowl in Ardmore on March 27, police said. Police responded at 10:28 p.m. after a call from the restaurant. Employees told police the Haverford woman had been eating at the restaurant, and asked employees to call for a cab; when the cab arrived, the driver refused to take the woman due to her level of intoxication, according to the report. 4 Break-Ins in One Day in Merion and Wynnewood, Police Say

Three burglaries and an attempted burglary occurred on March 27, Lower Merion police said.

Three burglaries and a burglary attempt in Merion and Wynnewood were reported on March 27, Lower Merion police said at a Monday briefing.  In two incidents, several pieces of jewelry were taken; in the others, homeowners were away and it is not known what is missing at this time, according to police. The break-ins occurred on: 300 block of Baird Rd, Merion Station: The burglary occurred between 12:45 p.m. and 1:58 p.m., police said. Police responded on report of an alarm activation and discovered forced entry had been made to the residence on the first floor, according to the report. $49,000 in Watches Taken in Wynnewood Burglary

The owners were away on vacation, police said.

Three watches, worth a total of $49,000, were among the items stolen in an Indian Creek Estates burglary March 20, Lower Merion police said in a Monday briefing.  At 11:56 a.m. on March 20, police responded to an alarm activation on the 700 block of Periwinkle Lane in Wynnewood’s Indian Creek Estates.  Police found the rear basement door forced open and ransacking in the master bedroom of the home, whose owners were on vacation. $2,190 in Jewelry Stolen At Ardmore Gym

Lower Merion Police Department reported the following incidents to news media at a Monday briefing.  Where arrests or charges are mentioned, they do not indicate guilt or a conviction. Theft: Two silver and gold bracelets, valued at $1,295 and $895, were stolen from Philadelphia Sports Clubs while the victim was working out on Friday, police said. The victim put the bracelets in the pocket of her jacket, placed her duffle bag on top, and left the jacket in the workout area of the gym; she said the duffle bag was less than 20 feet away from her the whole time, police said.
