With a high expected at 95 degrees in the shade, high humidity, in the wake of a holiday letdown work week, it just seemed in order—a midday, mid-week, mid-summer interlude. It comes courtesy of a small, quiet corner of Ardmore, tucked away on Holland Avenue: the Philadelphia Skating Club & Humane Society, founded in 1861. PSC&HS is the first skating club in the United States, and welcomes new members throughout the year.
