The cause of the fire is under investigation. There were no injuries, according to Lower Merion Deputy Fire Marshal Jim McCoy.
Update 11:42 a.m.: The fire has been controlled, but the home has been seriously damaged. On Monday afternoon, Lower Merion police reported to news media the following incidents from the past week in the Ardmore, Merion Station and Wynnewood area. Seven reports of thefts or burglaries from vehicles in the Ardmore Patch area between April 24 and April 28 were included in the police report. In six of the seven incidents, items were stolen from unlocked vehicles. Laptop, iPod stolen: A white Apple laptop, an Apple iPod, miscellaneous textbooks and CDs were stolen from a locked car parked at Old Lancaster Road and Latches Lane in Merion Station overnight from April 27 to 28, police said. The monthly ArdWood Civic Association meeting will be held Tuesday night at 7:15, at the Household of Faith Deliverance Church (at the intersection of Linwood and Athens). Representatives of Main Line Gracie Jiu-Jitsu will be presenting their plans and project proposal for the First Baptist Church of Ardmore site. Schuylkill Expressway bridge cleanings will cause lane closures Tuesday through Wednesday, according to PennDOT. On Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., the left eastbound lane is scheduled to be closed between King of Prussia and City Avenue, and on Wednesday and Thursday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., the left westbound lane will be closed over the same stretch. On Monday afternoon, Lower Merion police reported to news media the following incidents from the past week in the Ardmore area: Criminal mischief: Two cars in Merion Station were vandalized overnight from April 21 and 22, police said. Someone spray painted multiple things with yellow spray paint on an Acura parked on the 500 block of Revere Road; the car was unable to be driven because the windows were painted, police said. A second vehicle parked on the 500 block of General Lafayette Road was also vandalized during the same time frame, police said. That car, a Honda Accord, was able to be driven, police said.

Part of Merion Road in Merion Station is scheduled to be closed from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday while a road-restoration crew works, the township announced Thursday morning. The road will be closed for the three-tenths of a mile between Montgomery and Bowman avenues.
