First Friday Main Line's May 4 event features swing, hip hop, tap and belly dancing.
This Friday night, locals can swing into spring in Ardmore—and tap dance, ballroom dance, and belly dance into spring, too, if you feel like it. First Friday Main Line returns on May 4 to host a block party on Cricket Avenue that focuses on the art of dance. The free party runs from 6 to 10 p.m., with a group of pint-sized ballroom dancers kicking things off at 6:30 p.m. Throughout the night, partygoers can see and dance alongside tap dancers, swing dancers, indigenous dancers and belly dancers. Area restaurants brought tasty samplings to the First Friday event, where Firinji won best dish of the night.
"My daughter told me I shouldn't be a food judge, because I like everything," new Montgomery County Commissioner Leslie Richards laughed, while taking a break between courses at Foodapalooza Friday night. This is the fourth year that First Friday Main Line has organized the February food tasting event, held at Haverford Estates. This year, guests had the chance to try dishes from about 15 local businesses including A La Maison, Firinji, Mediterranean Grill, MilkBoy Coffee, and an Ardmore newcomer, Tired Hands Brewery. Richards, along with Lower Merion Commissioner Scott Zelov, Radnor Commissioner John Nagle and ElderNet's Linda Fisher, served as "celebrity" guest judges for Foodapalooza's food judging competition.
