Fruitti Yummi Now Open in Suburban Square

The new frozen yogurt shop in Ardmore opened last weekend.

Signs of Life At a Long-Vacant Storefront

'Coming Soon' signs are up at the Ardmore Avenue space Petunia's left years ago.

Petunia's Consignment Boutique relocated years ago, but the peeling letters on the old 22 Ardmore Ave. storefront have remained. In the past few weeks, though, a new sign has materialized: Coming Soon: Personally by Ani K. It appears some renovations are going on inside, and another sign indoors reads "Wardrobe Consulting—Expert Tailoring." Ardmore Patch reached out to the owner last week, and will update this story as more information becomes available. To get updates on this story, click "Keep Me Posted" below. New Shoe Store Afoot in Suburban Square

Clarks is coming to Ardmore. Plus, several more stores are expected to sign leases within the next two months, Suburban Square's manager said.

Suburban Square shoppers will soon have some footwear options beyond sneakers: Clarks, an international footwear store offering styles for women, men and children, could be open as soon as the end of next month, Suburban Square manager Mark Bachus told Patch on Friday. The British company signed a lease this week for the space next to The Walking Company on St. James Place. After some renovations—which include gutting the space and returning the building façade to its original design—Clarks hopes to open by the end of April, Bachus said. Clarks has 270 stores across North and South America and more than a thousand stores worldwide. Its website announces eight more stores across America opening in March and April, including one at the …

Bubble Tea, Frozen Yogurt Coming To Downtown Ardmore

18 W Lancaster Ave. in Ardmore, formerly a nail salon, will sell both kinds of cold treats, Lower Merion's retail coordinator confirmed.

Ardmore locals will soon be able to grab two trendy treats at 18 W Lancaster Ave., the site of a combination frozen yogurt and bubble tea shop that will take the place of Organic Nails & Spa.  Bubble tea is a slushy- or smoothie-style drink with a wide variety of types and flavors, including everything from black tea to avocado, red bean and strawberry. Its name comes from the chewy tapioca balls the drink is served over. The lease for the space, located between Viva Video and Princess Nails & Spa in downtown Ardmore, was signed about two weeks ago, Lower Merion retail coordinator Heidi Tirjan said. Few details—as suggested by the simple "Coming Soon: Frozen Yogurt" sign posted on the storefront—are available at the moment.  But "coming …

Inquirer: 2 Restaurants Coming To Vacant Buca Di Beppo Space

Look for both Italian and Mediterranean cuisine in the Wynnewood spot.

Well, that was fast: according to the Philadelphia Inquirer, another Center City restauranteur is headed to Lower Merion, and will be filling the spot vacated by Buca di Beppo just last Sunday. Philly.com's Michael Klein says Nick Pashalis, who co-owns Estia and Pietro's Coal-Oven Pizzeria, will split the large space into a Pietro's and Estia Taverna, a casual Greek restaurant.  It'll be at least a year till the restaurants open, according to Klein. Read the full Inquirer article. Pietro's, which serves up classic Italian cuisine, has two Philly locations and a New Jersey location. Neither Lower Merion's retail coordinator nor representatives of property owner Baker Properties were available for comment. Patch will update this story as it …

Frozen Yogurt 'Coming Soon' To Former Cold Stone Spot

Cold Stone Creamery left Suburban Square on Dec. 24, according to a Suburban Square representative.

Cold Stone Creamery has vacated its Suburban Square location, and another frozen treat shop looks ready to take its place. Signage indicates that Fruitti Yummi, a frozen yogurt shop, is 'coming soon' to the Coulter Avenue space. Cold Stone Creamery's last day in Suburban Square was Dec. 24, according to Suburban Square general manager Mark Bachus. Kimco Realty's leasing agent was not immediately available to offer more details on the new tenant, but there is at least one other Fruitti Yummi location, in Ridgewood, NY. An employee at the Ridgewood location said the store is independently owned, and not connected to the new Ardmore location. Currently, there is no standalone frozen yogurt shop in Ardmore. Sweetgreen, however, also located in…

Ardmore's Iron Hill Brewery Aims for Early 2014 Opening

"We've been looking for a spot on the Main Line forever," Iron Hill Brewery owner Kevin Finn told Patch.

Iron Hill Brewery & Restaurant is aiming for a January 2014 opening in Ardmore, co-owner Kevin Finn told Patch on Wednesday. “We’ve been looking for a spot on the Main Line forever, but we just hadn’t really found a space,” Finn said of the business, which just signed a lease for 60 Greenfield Ave. in Ardmore Plaza. The company has nine current restaurants and another planned for Voorhees, N.J. “We’ve been talking to Ardmore for maybe five years,” he added. “We were really close to signing a lease back in 2009 but it didn’t pan out … it’s an area we really liked.” Iron Hill, a full service restaurant and pub that brews on site at all of its breweries, is one of the fastest growing chains of brewpubs on the East Coast. The size of the …

Please don't, Iron Hill's the worst - the beer tastes like poop, and it's over priced...and the food isn't that great either. I bet we could find something better... seriously, someone just step up and start their own bar - I'll come every day if it means keeping an iron hill out the picture.   more ›
