Runners and bookworms alike will take to the streets of Penn Wynne on an upcoming October morning: Penn Wynne Library will hold its 12th annual 5K race on Oct. 13, with all proceeds from the race benefiting the library. The race begins at 9 a.m. at the library (130 Overbrook Parkway), and participants can walk or run the course. The top three male and female finishers will receive trophies, with a medal for the top finisher in each age group. But even if you're not quite as speedy, the first 200 people to register for the 5K will get a free t-shirt—plus, all kids get an award, too. Looking for a 5K, 10K, or half-marathon?
Looking for a local run this May? The Alex Wake Memorial 5K Run and 1-Mile Walk will be held at The Baldwin School on Saturday, May 5. The annual race, which works to raise awareness about domestic violence, also funds a scholarship in Alex's name. Or on Sunday, you can run the Cynwyd 5K, the first of what will hopefully become an annual scenic run along the Cynwyd Heritage Trail. There are also a number of races happening across the region this month, including 5Ks for dogs, races for moms and daughters, and a half-marathon for the "odd" among us.
