Lower Merion's school board approved a 2013-14 preliminary budget Tuesday.
The increase was 1.99 percent in 2012-13. The preliminary budget for 2013-14 includes about $222 million in expenses with a potential $7.7 million funding gap.
Monday night, Lower Merion's Board of School Directors authorized administration to seek bids for three of four schools included in the $24 million project.

Additional options and cost estimates were presented Monday. Board members are expected to vote on expansion plans on Jan. 28.
Welsh Valley's expansion may be scaled down, and in 2013-14, the school could use St. Justin Martyr Church for classrooms.
A land surveying contract for possible school expansion projects was also approved.
Staff members at the top salary tier will get a 2.6 percent increase in Year 1, a 2.2 percent increase in Year 2, and a 1.4 percent increase in Year 3.
