Run For Your Life: August 5Ks, Trail Runs and Other Fun Races

Looking to stretch your legs in an organized run?

It's August, so the heat is on. Luckily, most of the events below start in the morning. 

There are plenty of interesting runs this month, including a couple 15k races, a duathlon and even a pentathlon.

Thursday, Aug. 2

Bourneylf Run/Walk 5K run and 2-mile walk, Rustin High School, West Chester, $20

Phoenixville Twilight Summer Track Series #2, open track meets, multiple distances, hurdles and relays, starts 6:30 p.m., Phoenixville Area High School track, $5 per person per meet

Saturday, Aug. 4

Wounded Warrior 5K Trail Run and Walk, start time 9 a.m., Warwick Park, Pottstown, $30

Sunday, Aug. 12

 2012 Greater Philadelphia Runners Pentathlon, start time 8 a.m., each runner participates in 5 events, Fort Washington, $45 per person

Thursday, Aug. 16

A Midsummer Night's Series, 5k, start time 7 p.m. (no race day registration), South Ardmore Park, Wynnewood,  $20

Saturday, Aug. 18

Mount Cuckoo 15k and 30k, starts 8 a.m., half-trail, half-road race, Stoudtburg Village, Lehigh County, $40

Sunday, Aug. 19

Radnor Red Run, 5k cross-country "steeplechase run," start time 9 a.m., , $30

Washington Crossing 15k, start time 5 p.m., Washington Crossing Historic Park Bucks County, $50

Thursday, Aug. 23

Cassatt Trot 5k Run, start time 7 p.m., Upper Main Line YMCA, $20

Friday, Aug. 24

Run with the Dolphins, 5k run and 1-mile walk, start time 6:30 p.m., Drexel Swim Club, Broomall, $20

Sunday, Aug. 26

Perk Up Half-Marathon, 13.1-mile run through Perkiomen Valley rolling hills, start time 8 a.m., Pennsburg, Montgomery County, $65
