Viewfinder: Volleyball

An often overlooked sport offers good action.

This week we focus Viewfinder on volleyball, a sport that requires a degree of athleticism on a par with most other sports.  There's no play-by-play here, or score tallies— just some overdue exposure for an underappreciated sport.

A volleyball match consists of three sets, each of which ends when one team scores 25 points.  For indoor competitive volleyball, there are six players on each side of the court, arrangesd in three rows.

A side can only hit the ball three times before sending it back over the net.  Hitting it more than three times loses a point and service.  Ideally, the first two hits will position a first-row player to drive it.
