This is our most recent blog post on our website.  Please find out more about Soom Foods at www.soomfoods.com!

As many of you may, or may not, know… Soom Foods has gotten some great press recently.

Our client, role model and friend, Michael Solomonov of Zahav Restaurant, was recently featured in the Wall Street Journal.  Michael and Soom Foods began forming a great relationship when we merely mentioned to him we were committed to bringing the most delicious, highest quality tehina (not tahini) from Israel.  He was in from the get-go, and switched to Soom Foods once I brought him his first sample.

Matthew Kronsberg wrote a great piece on Mike Solo’s “Fresh, Flavorful Israeli Salads.”  Michael shared some of his favorite salatim (salads) recipes and was asked what his favorite ingredients are.  Matthew noted, (brilliantly, I might add) “When you’re making simple salads like these, with only a few ingredients, it’s important to buy the best.  Mr. Solomonov swears by the following:”

Thank you, Michael.   Maybe next time we can get them to write tehina, not tahini  baby steps.

A couple weeks later, Soom Foods was proud to be featured in the Washington Jewish Week; this time not merely for our product, but for the people behind it.  From day one SheJAmz has been committed to being completely transparent.  Our schtick: “no preservatives and no sales gimmicks.”  We’re an open book, as you may have noticed from our candid and personalized blog and social media posts.

The Washington Jewish Week was exciting for us… Not because it was our first time being highlighted; we’ve been in the WJW several times (SheJAmz had high profiles in our high-school basketball glory days.  The PVAC was a “lucrative” league- I wish I could write sarcasm better- but we are (unfortunately) best known for our dramatic injuries.) …It was exciting for us because we want to make sure people understand our background and intentions.  Most notably, our membership with 1% FTP.

Thank you Emily for the beautiful piece, Omri for introducing us to this wonderful product, and Drew Rollo for the picture!

Exciting, right?!  Exciting enough to almost forget what Soom Foods is- a business… A business that has a lot of tehina to sell.

That reality came back to me with full force when I stepped into the warehouse for the first time since it all happened.  We had been forwarding orders from the website every day, and having great sales at the expos, fests, and markets; but still, we have boxes on boxes on boxes of tehina in our possession.  Humbled.  Quickly.

We’ve had some successes; I’m proud of what we’ve accomplished… But we’re working harder than ever to take it to the next level.  We’re confident and motivated.
