Lower Merion Schools Named to Honor Roll

Lower Merion School District is honored for its Advanced Placement efforts.

The following is a press release from the Lower Merion School District.

The College Board recently announced Lower Merion School District has been named to the4th Annual AP District Honor Roll - a distinction awarded to districts that have opened the AP classroom doors to a significantly broader pool of students while improving the percentage of students earning scores of 3 or higher. Last year, 85% of students taking AP exams at Harriton and Lower Merion scored either a 3, 4, or 5.

Achieving both of these goals is the ideal scenario for a district's AP program because it indicates that the district is successfully identifying motivated, academically prepared students who are likely to benefit most from rigorous AP coursework. More than 90% of colleges and universities across the U.S. offer college credit, advanced placement, or both for a score of 3 or higher on an AP exam, which can potentially save students and their families thousands of dollars in college tuition.

A total of 477 school districts throughout the United States and Canada are being honored in this year's program. Lower Merion School District is one of only 40 districts in Pennsylvania to be awarded this distinction.
