"Harke, Harke", A Holiday Concert with Rachel Cama
The viola da gamba (Italian for "leg-viol") is a bowed stringed instrument that was born in the European Renaissance. The viola da gamba's large repertoire includes some of the most beautiful ensemble music ever composed as well as virtuoso solos by the most famous composers of the baroque era––including J.S. Bach, G.F Handel and and G.P. Telemann.
This mini-concert focuses on music of 17-century England––much of it based on traditional folk tunes that are familiar to our modern ears. Come enjoy the resonant sound of the viola da gamba––and even have a chance to get "up-close-and-personal" with this unique instrument.
