Second Annual Montgomery County Centenarian Celebration on June 9, 2011

Second Annual Montgomery County Centenarian Celebration on June 9, 2011.

Time is running out to sign up for the Montgomery County Centenarian  Celebration, a public-private partnership organized by Montgomery County  Department of Aging and Adult Services, and private sponsors. It is designed to celebrate the wisdom and achievements of those who’ve been our neighbors the longest.

The date of the event is June 9, 2011, with a 10:30 a.m. registration. The location is the Fisher Auditorium, 275 Dock Woods Drive in Lansdale. Reservations are due by May 20, using the form attached to this post.

This is an annual occasion in honor of our local residents who are at least 100 years old as of the end of this year. It is an event consisting of a luncheon, celebration, followed by about two hours of entertainment. The entertainment in past years has included local dance and musical groups,  professional singers, and celebrity look-alikes. Attendees may also expect an appearance by one or two elected officials. Tickets are free to each centenarian and one guest. Additional guests may also attend for $25.  A booklet containing a few words of wisdom from our local centenarians is distributed to those in attendance.
