Voter ID Law: Democrats call it "voter suppression;" Republicans say it's something everyone should do.

Will this decision stick? Both sides had said they would appeal this ruling.

Actually it was a Republican who as much as said the ID law is voter suppression. Check out the many news media reports and at least one Youtube video on Michael Turzai's circa June 25 comment on the law: "This will win Romney the election in Pennsylvania!" So much for upholding the principles of democracy...

Dear Byron, If any person is registered why can't they get an absentee ballot? In Florida we can call the Supervisory of Elections or stop in and fill out a card for an absentee ballot. Another way is to go on luine and fill out the information to be sent an absentee ballot. Ours ha a red square on the back and has to be signed and dated and sent. Signatures are now compared with what ever is on file. Voter suppression is what happened in Philly at the last election. What person wouldn;t have been intimidated by the black panthers standing out in front of the voting place. Let the govt. provide free ID cards for all American Citizens. Problem solved.

Here's how you CAN go to Rosemont. If your PennDOT id is expired you can do most of the legwork by phone and mail. If it is expired by more than a year as of election day you can get one for free. Call PennDOT 1800-932-4600, hit 1 for English, hit 1 for license, hit 0 to get a person They will ask for your name, your license or id number, etc. Once you are verified you mail them the filled out form DL54-A and the affirmation that voter does not possess proof of identification for voting purposes. The address is Bureau of Driver Licensing P.O. Box 68272 Harrisburg PA 17106-8272 They will mail you a camera card that you CAN bring to Rosemont or any center that takes pictures.
