Voting in Tuesday's Primary Election: Who, What, When and Where?

Tuesday's primary election features contested nominations for U.S. Senate, state attorney general and state auditor general, as well as political convention delegates and President of the United States.

Residents who are registered as Democrats or Republicans may vote Tuesday in their respective parties' primary elections, any time between 7 a.m. and 8 p.m. at their designated polling places. (See below for a list of polling places.)

• President Barack Obama is unopposed for Democratic nomination in his re-election bid. Pennsylvania Republicans can choose from among Mitt Romney, Ron Paul, Newt Gingrich and Rick Santorum, though Santorum has officially suspended his campaign.
• Both parties have several choices for delegates and alternate delegates to this summer's nominating conventions.
• U.S. Sen. Bob Casey Jr. faces a challenge from fellow Democrat Joseph John Vodvarka; five Republicans are competing for their party's nomination.
• U.S. Rep. Chaka Fattah is unopposed by any Democrat for renomination, as is Republican challenger Robert Allen Mansfield, Jr.
• Republican David J. Freed is unopposed for nomination to the state attorney general race. Patrick Murphy and Kathleen G. Kane are competing on the Democratic side.
• Frank A. Pinto and John Maher seek the Republican nomination for auditor general. Democrat Eugene A. DiPasquale is unopposed.
• State treasurer Rob McCord is unopposed in the Democratic primary, as is Republican challenger Diana Irey Vaughan.
• Sen. Daylin Leach, whose District 17 includes all of Lower Merion and Narberth, is unopposed in the Democratic primary. His Republican challenger in November will be Charles Henry Gehret.
• Voters in Ward 4, Ward 5, Ward 7's Precincts 1 and 3, Ward 8 and Ward 14 live in District 149 of the State Assembly, where incumbent Democratic Rep. Tim Briggs and Republican challenger Perrin C. Hamilton are unchallenged in the primary.
• Voters in Ward 7's Precinct 2 and Ward 12 live in District 148 of the State Assembly, where incumbent Democrat Rep. Mike Gerber is unopposed by either party.
