UPDATE: Some Major Roads Reopened

Parts of County Line Road, Montgomery Avenue, Conshohocken State Road and Hollow Road at I-76 were closed Wednesday morning.

Updated 10/31 7:30 p.m.

According to a township news release:

  • Lancaster Avenue at Lankenau Drive has been re-opened to all traffic.
  • Montgomery Avenue is clear between Spring Mill Road and Matsons Ford Road. Conshohocken State Rd. has been cleared and is open.
  • County Line Rd. is closed between Saybrook and Matsons Ford Road and will be for an extended period of time.
  • The eastbound entrance on-ramp to the Schuylkill Expressway is closed at Hollow Road due to downed wires. The westbound exit ramp off of the expressway is open, and all of Hollow Road is open.
  • Motorists are warned that at least a dozen traffic signals throughout the Township were still down as of 5:10 p.m. Wednesday. By law, an intersection with a non-operational traffic signal is the same as one with a four-way stop sign.
  • Parts of several major township roads are still closed due to downed trees and power outages, Lower Merion Township stated Wednesday morning in a news release.

Lower Merion Township is still experiencing significant road issues in the Bryn Mawr / Villanova / Gladwyne areas, due to power outages and trees down. As a result, the following major routes were closed as of Wednesday morning, Oct. 31:

County Line Road: Spring Mill Road to Matson Ford Road

Montgomery Avenue: Spring Mill Road to Matson Ford Road

Conshohocken State Road: Spring Mill Road to Mill Creek Road

Hollow Road at I-76

Detours: Individuals that typically use the County Line Road or Montgomery Avenue sections should use Lancaster Avenue if possible. Those traveling on Conshohocken State Road east from Conshohocken can take Spring Mill to Montgomery Avenue to travel west. Motorists that typically take Conshohocken State Road West are advised to use Montgomery Avenue.

There are numerous traffic signals without power along Montgomery Avenue in the Bryn Mawr area. Lower Merion Police officers are assisting at major locations, but motorists should anticipate that there will be some locations with no assistance available. Motorists are reminded that traffic signals without power should be treated as a four-way stop.

Expect delays in the area.
