Roundabout Coming to East Wynnewood Road?

It's one of the options the township is considering to mitigate problems at a dangerous intersection.

Lower Merion Township is considering taking steps to cut down on accidents in the area of North Wynnewood Avenue and East Wynnewood Road, Main Line Media News is reporting

The intersection has long been regarded as a dangerous one—board president Liz Rogan said three children and a bicyclist have been hit by cars at the intersection in just the last three years—and, according to the paper, at a meeting on Tuesday a representative of the township's engineering firm sketched out a handful of options available to the township to improve pedestrian safety.

Stop signs, a traffic signal, and what engineers call a "modern roundabout" were discussed. While the roundabout was the favorite of the engineers, according to the paper the commissioners themselves were ambivalent; one citing the apparent trouble the state of New Jersey is having with its many traffic circles.
