Montgomery County Declares Code Red Hot Weather Emergency

Three such alerts were issued in 2010.

Montgomery County declared a "Code Red" Hot Weather Emergency late this morning, during the second straight day of unseasonably high temperatures.

The National Weather Service also , effective through 8 p.m.

In the county, most Senior Adult Activity Centers, malls and libraries are air-conditioned, according to an email notice from Lower Merion Township.

Residents who cannot go to other sites can cool off at the in Norristown, according to the notice.

“During the day, homeless residents can escape the heat at the (CHOC) on the Norristown State Hospital grounds (610-292-9244), at the (610-277-1321) or the (610-275-4183),” the notice states.

There were three Code Red Alerts issued in 2010 year, the county said.
