Commissioners to Select New Vice-President, Ward 1 Representative

The Lower Merion Township BOC will meet Feb. 16 to appoint Mark Taylor's replacement and address other agenda items.

The Lower Merion Township Board of Commissioners is scheduled to select an interim replacement Wednesday night for outgoing Ward 1 representative and vice president Mark Taylor, who is resigning his post effective that evening for personal reasons.

Both interim candidates --Democrat Daniel Bernheim and Republican Joseph Carapico-- have signaled willingness to run for reelection at the conclusion of Taylor's term. The candidates submitted to questioning at the Board's .

At Wednesday's meeting, after selecting Bernheim or Carapico to fill Taylor's Ward 1 seat representing Penn Valley, Gladwyne, Merion Park and Wynnewood residents, the Board will separately elect a new vice president from amongst the sitting members

The members will subsequently vote on whether to schedule a March 16 hearing on a proposed ordinance that would amend the zoning code governing sign usage.

Also up for vote is a preliminary land development plan for The Shipley School, reappointing Toby George to a three-year term on the Electrical Examining Board, a reallocation of $943,310 in existing SEPTA and Township designated project funds to Urban Designs, and a stop sign on the corner of Greaves Lane and Righters Mill Road for traffic on Greaves Lane. 

The Board will also recognize the Merion Mercy Volleyball team.

The meeting begins at 8 p.m. at the township building, 75 E. Lancaster Avenue in Ardmore.
