Candidates Sought For Environmental Advisory Council

The Lower Merion Township press release is reprinted below.

Lower Merion Township is seeking interested candidates to apply for vacant positions on the Environmental Advisory Council (EAC).

The primary focus of the EAC is to promote and conserve the natural resources of the Township and to protect and improve the quality of the environment within the Township. The Council's role is to provide input and comment on the environmental impact of proposed projects and suggest ways to minimize those impacts and also to review and comment on amendments to the Township code dealing with environmental issues such as tree preservation and stormwater runoff.

In addition, the EAC provides technical expertise and testifies on environmental aspects of subdivision and land development plans and provides environmental advice on specific projects or properties upon request by the Board of Commissioners or the Planning Commission. Since 1985, the EAC has also played an important role in educating the public about environmental issues and holds annual public forums to educate Township residents and allow for the discussion of environmental issues. Valuable environmental information is provided by the EAC on www.lowermerion.org.
