Wynnewood Man Stabs Nephews, Police Say

The defendant claims the two attacked him, and his actions were in self-defense.

A 54-year-old Wynnewood man is charged with stabbing his nephews during a scuffle in Ardmore earlier this month, according to Lower Merion police.

Desmond Forrester, a resident of the unit block of Henley Road, faces four felony charges of aggravated assault and multiple misdemeanors stemming from the June 11 incident.

At 8:19 p.m. on that date, Officer JoAnne Pepitone said Lower Merion police were called to the 200 block of Lippincott Avenue in Ardmore on a report of a fight involving as many as eight people.

When police arrived, Pepitone said, Forrester waved them down and explained that he had been attacked by his nephews and that, in self-defense, he had stabbed each of them with a knife.

At this point, one of the victims, neither of whose age was provided, had already left for Lankenau Hospital while the second was lying on the ground and not moving, Pepitone said. The second victim had several wounds but was conscious.

Pepitone said that, according to witnesses, the nephews were staying with Forrester's family and "had begun to give them problems," which came to a head in a verbal altercation that evening and led to the alleged stabbing.

Forrester—who has no record of prior criminal offenses in Montgomery County, according to court records—was arrested, charged, and confined to Montgomery County Prison in lieu of $50,000 bail. He is scheduled to appear at a preliminary hearing Aug. 6.
