Woman Saves Stray Dog, Has Purse Stolen
Almost $1,000 in property and cash was stolen, police said.
A woman who stopped to help a stray dog in Ardmore last week had about $1,000 in goods stolen from her car, Lower Merion police told news media at a Monday briefing.
On Nov. 19 around 1:40 p.m., a woman driving down Montgomery Avenue in Ardmore noticed a stray dog, police said. The woman believed the dog belonged to one of her neighbors, and decided to recover the dog, according to the report.
Parking her car in a lot on the 200 block of W. Montgomery Ave., the woman left her car unlocked while she looked for the dog. In a span of about five minutes, the woman told police, almost $1,000 in goods were stolen from her car.
Stolen was a red leather 15x15 tote bag valued at $500, a red leather woven wallet valued at $80, $400 in cash and numerous credit cards, police said.
The woman didn’t report the theft right away, police said, because she needed to get her hair done.
