Workers in 2 Bala Plaza got a scare Wednesday afternoon, as a suspicious package brought Lower Merion fire personnel and the Montgomery County Bomb squad to the Bala Cynwyd complex.
According to Lower Merion public information officer Tom Walsh, after about an hour on the scene, authorities determined the package in question was “harmless.”
The trouble began at approximately 1 p.m. when employees at the U.S. Postal Service inspection site—located in 2 Bala Plaza—flagged a suspicious package and called police.
The package was removed to a safe and secure area, where it was evaluated by he bomb squad and deemed to be a non-threat.
Walsh emphasized that the building wasn’t evacuated and said the township's serious response was merely a reflection of an "abundance of caution."
