Police Calls Up 20 Percent Last Week

Lower Merion police responded to about 461 calls the week of June 18 in the Ardmore, Merion, Wynnewood area, up from 386 calls the previous week, department records show.

Lower Merion police responded to 461 calls the week of June 18 throughout Ardmore, Merion Station, Wynnewood and Haverford, up from , and an increase of 100 calls from , department records show. The increase in calls from June 11 to June 18 signifies a 19.4 percent jump.

From June 18 to June 22, the police calls (which do not necessarily indicate arrests were made or charges filed) included:

  • 5 burglaries, three using force
  • 1 attempted suicide
  • 4 domestic disputes
  • 2 DUIs
  • 2 reports of drug possession
  • 11 fires
  • 1 reported rape, on June 21 around 12:37 a.m., on the 400 block of W Lancaster Ave. in Haverford
  • 11 car accidents with property damage
  • 2 cases of fraud
  • 19 thefts from vehicles, and 6 attempted thefts from vehicles
