Police Blotter: Thieves Hit 11 Unlocked Cars in 1 Night

The following information has been supplied by the Lower Merion Police Department. If arrests or charges are mentioned, they do not indicate guilt or a conviction.

 

On Monday afternoon,  reported to news media the following incidents from the past week in Ardmore, Merion and Wynnewood:

Theft from vehicles: Thieves in Penn Wynne entered 11 unlocked cars overnight from Friday, Feb. 24, to Saturday, Feb. 25, police said:

  • Sunglasses worth $150 were taken from a car on the 200 block of Brydon Road.
  • Two vehicles in the same driveway on the 200 block of Barwynne Lane were relieved of credit cards and $100 in cash.
  • Nothing was reported missing from five cars on the 200 block of Barwynne Lane, two others on the 1200 block of Weymouth Road and one on the 200 block of Wiltshire Road.

Theft: A man working out at the Ozark Hall fitness center on Latches Lane had his $1,900 laptop stolen from his unlocked locker about noon Feb. 21.

Theft: Six green "caution" traffic signs were stolen from lawns on the 500 block of Barrett Avenue Feb. 21.

Public intoxication: Michael Palladino Jr., 27, of Holmes, PA, was arrested at about 12:50 Feb. 22.

Retail theft: A heavyset, balding black man about 6 feet tall set off alarms at the  when he ran out with $334 worth of stolen razors about 3:05 p.m. Feb. 22, police said. About half of the merchandise fell out of his shirt outside before he fled in a Saturn.

Public intoxication: Stephen Pfeifer, 29, of Manayunk was arrested on the first block of East Wynnewood Road about 2:15 a.m. Feb. 25.

Theft: A basketball coach at the in Penn Wynne reported his Apple iPhone was stolen from his coat pocket during a game about 4 p.m. Feb. 26.
