Police Blotter: Thefts From Elevation Burger, GIANT, El Quetzal

The following information has been supplied by the Lower Merion Police Department. If arrests or charges are mentioned, they do not indicate guilt or a conviction.

On Monday afternoon,  reported to news media the following incidents from the past week in Ardmore, Merion and Wynnewood.

Theft: Credit cards and a wallet were stolen from a customer at between 12:55 and 1:46 p.m. July 25, police said. The customer’s handbag was hanging on the back of her chair, and she didn’t notice anything missing until she left. Missing were a black Coach wallet, $100 in cash, credit cards and a driver’s license, police said. Video surveillance showed two people removing the wallet from her purse, police said.

Theft: A computer was stolen from an office building on the 300 block of East Lancaster Avenue overnight from July 26 to 27, police said. A Dell Vostro computer, valued at about $550, was found missing from one of the desks in an office, police said. There were no signs of force.

Theft: An iPhone was stolen from a shopper at the between 11:40 a.m. and noon July 27, police said. The iPhone, valued at $695, was stolen from the shopper’s purse, police said. GPS tracking was initiated, and the last known location was the 1700 block of Edgewood Street in Philadelphia, in the 19th police district, police said.

Underage drinking: Police responded to the 100 block of Walnut Avenue in Armore about 11:40 p.m. July 27 on a report of loud teenagers on a front porch, police said. Officers noticed four people drinking on the front porch, none of whom were of legal drinking age. All four had alcohol on their breath, and Bud Light cans were visible on the porch, police said. A 20-year-old from Darby, an 18-year-old from Merion, a 19-year-old from Narberth and an 18-year-old from Villanova were cited for underage drinking, police said.

Public drunkenness: Police were called to the 200 block of East Lancaster Avenue for an unknown medical emergency about 12:59 p.m. July 28, police said. They found a man unable to stand up with a strong odor of alcohol on his breath, police said. The 62-year-old from Bordentown, NJ, was brought back to police headquarters to sober up, police said. The man was cited for public drunkenness.

Retail theft: Six dresses, with a total value of $330.75, were stolen from on Coulter Avenue in Ardmore about 4:56 p.m. July 29, police said. Two women entered the store and took several items of clothing into the fitting rooms, police said. The women then left the store, and employees found empty hangers in the fitting rooms and called police. The women were stopped a short distance away, and a witness positively identified the women, police said. They also had a number of items from other stores, but police could not immediately discern from which stores the other items had been stolen. The two 21-year-old women from Philadelphia were cited for retail theft, police said.
