Police Blotter: Theft of Copper Downspouts, Bicycles Continue

The following information has been supplied by the Lower Merion Police Department. If arrests or charges are mentioned, they do not indicate guilt or a conviction.

Theft: Police said two 10-foot sections of copper downspouts were stolen from a house on the unit block of Merbrook Lane in Wynnewood between 5 p.m. on July 6 and 6 p.m. on July 7. The downspouts, valued at $200, were taken from next to the front door of the house, and residents believe they were taken sometime overnight.

* Police said a bicycle was stolen from the 200 block of Church Road in Wynnewood sometime between June 25 and July 9. The bike, a 24-inch blue-and-white Specialized Hotrock, valued at $250, was taken from a detached garage.

* Police said two mountain bikes were stolen from the 200 block of Edge Hill Road in Merion on July 10. The bicycles stolen were both of the brand Univega Via Montega, worth $300 and $320, and were taken from an open garage.

DUI: Police said an officer observed a vehicle traveling east on Montgomery Avenue driving erratically at 12:55 a.m. July 8. An officer stopped the car on Rose Lane in the Haverford section of Lower Merion Township. Police said the driver, a 62-year-old Haverford woman, failed a field sobriety test and had a blood-alcohol level of .086. She was charged with DUI.
