Police Blotter: Phone Theft, Criminal Mischief

On Monday afternoon, Lower Merion Police relayed the following incidents to news media. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, they do not indicate guilt or a conviction.

Public drunkenness: A 57-year-old Ardmore woman was transported to Lankenau Hospital and cited for public intoxication on Dec. 3 at 8:18 p.m., after she was observed shouting, slurring and unstable at the Ardmore Wawa, police said.

Theft: A Samsung Galaxy phone valued at $500 was stolen from the Main Line Y off of Montgomery Avenue sometime between 6:30 p.m. and 7:45 p.m. on Dec. 3. The phone had been left in an unlocked locker in the men’s changing room while the owner worked out; when he returned, the phone was gone but his wallet was still there, police said.

DUI: A 23-year-old Bryn Mawr man was arrested and charged with driving under the influence following an accident on Greenfield Ave. on Dec. 7. At 5:15 p.m., police responded to a report of a vehicle accident, and upon interviewing one of the drivers about the accident, saw that he had red, glassy eyes. After police had finished interviewing him, police observed him almost walk into a tree. Upon questioning, he told police he had had three beers; the man was taken into custody and registered a .131 on a blood alcohol content test.

Criminal mischief to car: Overnight on Dec. 7 to Dec. 8, a car parked on Lippincott Ave. in Ardmore was egged, police said.

Theft: A man stole two copies of the Dark Knight DVD from the Wynnewood GIANT on Dec. 8, police said. The movies are valued at $53.98.

Public drunkenness: A man was cited for public drunkenness at 1:20 a.m. on Dec. 9 after a police officer saw him walk into a bunch of shrubs, then nearly walk out in front of moving traffic on W Lancaster Ave. near Greenfield Ave., police said. A blood alcohol content test registered .228, according to the police report.

Strong arm robbery: On Dec. 7 at 9:09 p.m., police responded to Gillane’s Bar in Ardmore on report of an assault victim. A man told police he had been stopped at Cricket Avenue when an unknown assailant punched the left side of his face and tried to drag him out of his car. The complainant said the car door was ripped open, and three men tried to drag him out, but he was able to step on the gas and accelerate through the intersection. He suffered head and neck injuries and his iPhone was stolen, police said.
