Police Blotter: Penn Wynne Burglaries Causing Concern

The following information has been supplied by the Lower Merion Police Department. If arrests or charges are mentioned, they do not indicate guilt or a conviction.

 reported to news media the following crimes and incidents from the Ardmore-Merion-Wynnewood Patch area in the past week:

As three burglaries that occurred in late September in Penn Wynne: an attempted burglary and a burglary in the 200 block of Trent Road and another burglary in the 1400 block of Greywall Lane, all of which occurred between 7 and 8 p.m. All three crimes were believed to have been committed by the same individual.

Burglary: Peter Masciangelo, 35, of the 100 block of Bryn Mawr Avenue in Bala Cynwyd was arrested Sept. 28 near the 300 block of Mallwyd Road in Wynnewood and charged in the burglary of a home there. Police responding to a call about a suspicious person found Masciangelo, allegedly with jewelry concealed on him.

Burglary: A homeowner interrupted a burglary about 1:40 a.m. Oct. 1 on the 1400 block of Dorset Lane in Wynnewood. After hearing her dog bark, the resident investigated and found a light-skinned man in his early 20s, about 5-feet-10-inches, standing in her kitchen holding something. He fled through the rear kitchen door. Police learned he had entered through an unlocked door and stolen about $30 in cash.

Theft: Two $450 bicycles that had been locked together behind a home on the 1400 block of Edgevale Road in Penn Wynne were stolen Sept. 29 or Sept. 30. One of the bicycles was found Oct. 1 at the scene of the above-mentioned burglary on the 1400 block of Dorset Lane. 

Theft from vehicle: Four tires and rims worth a combined $1,800 were taken from a dealership vehicle at Main Line Infiniti in Ardmore. The theft from the 2011 FX 50 model was discovered Sept. 27 at the southwest corner of the parking lot; the vehicle had been propped up on cinder blocks.

Theft from vehicle: Between 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. Oct. 1, a handbag, wallet, credit cards and $20 cash were taken from a vehicle on the 100 block of Ardmore Avenue in Ardmore. The front passenger window had been broken.
