Police Blotter: Credit Card Theft, Jewish Prayer Articles Stolen

On March 7, Lower Merion Township police reported the following crimes from the past week in the Ardmore area.

According to police, on March 3 at 11:45 p.m. a customer at Trader Joe's realized that her purse had been stolen. After her bank informed her the cards were being used at Suburban Square, police procured a description of the man who had used the card from the proprietor a business where it had been used, and later arrested Hoang Nguyen, 44, of Philadelphia, police said.

From Feb. 25 to Feb. 28, police say skin-care products valued at about $750 were stolen from the Weiss and Roling Dermatology office on the 200 block of East Lancaster Avenue.

Also on Feb. 28, according to police, an employee of Lankenau Hospital had a black leather wallet with a silver buckle stolen from her office. The wallet contained credit cards and $200 in cash, according to police.

Police say several construction tools valued at a combined $2,965 were stolen from inside a home under renovation on the 300 block of Calvert Road in Merion Station March 1.

The driver's sign window of a 2005 Mercedes Benz was shattered overnight, March 1 to March 2, on the 200 block of Upland Road in Merion Station, police said. A laptop and Jewish prayer articles were stolen, police said.

Police said employees of Cold Stone Creamery reported that purses, wallets and money were stolen from an unsecured break room on March 2.

DUI

According to police, Philadelphia police pulled over Shakia Williams, 23, of Philadelphia as she allegedly drove erratically southbound on City Avenue about 1:20 a.m. Monday, March 7. Williams was stopped at the Haverford Road intersection, and at township police headquarters her blood alcohol content registered at 0.12, police said. She was arrested for driving under the influence, police said.
