Police Blotter: Car Stolen in Penn Wynne

The following information has been supplied by the Lower Merion Police Department. If arrests or charges are mentioned, they do not indicate guilt or a conviction.

On Monday afternoon, Lower Merion police reported to news media the following incidents from the past week in the Ardmore-Merion-Wynnewood area:

  • Theft: Someone stole "several hundred dollars" from a safe at in Suburban Square June 5 or June 6, police said. No one had forced entry to the building; it was not known whether the safe was opened by force.
  • Burglary: A bedroom in a home on Avon Road in Merion was ransacked between late afternoon June 7 and midday June 8, police said. An undetermined amount of jewelry was taken.
  • Theft of vehicle: A 1994 Mazda MPV was taken from a maintenance shop on the 1400 block of City Avenue in Penn Wynne the morning of June 9, police said. The car was recovered later in the day by Philadelphia police.
