Police Blotter: Burglaries in Ardmore, Thefts in Merion

The following information has been supplied by the Lower Merion Police Department. If arrests or charges are mentioned, they do not indicate guilt or a conviction.

 reported to news media the following crimes and incidents from the Ardmore-Merion-Wynnewood Patch area in the past week:

Burglary

A burglary was reported at the Main Line Center for Laser Surgery at 32 Parking Plaza in Ardmore, between 6:35 and 9:30 p.m. on Nov. 29, police said. A cleaner arrived to work there and noticed lights on that were usually turned off, and heard someone exiting another door upon entering the building. The cleaner said the receptionist’s area appeared to have been rifled through, and reported the incident to police. It appears the burglar got away with some petty cash, police said.

An apartment on the 100-block of Cricket Avenue in Ardmore was broken into sometime between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Dec. 2, police said. An Xbox game console, controller, television controller and $150 in cash were taken, police said. Residents first noticed the Xbox missing and discovered there had been a break-in through a ground floor window that had been forced open, police said.

Theft

Police said a laptop computer, a Canon Powershot camera, a memory card and case were stolen from a car owned by a resident of the 500 block of Valley View Road in Merion Station. The theft occurred sometime between Nov. 26 and Dec. 1, when the car was parked in numerous locations around Lower Merion and Narberth. It is unknown where the items, valued at about $1,700, were stolen.

Police said a theft was discovered on Dec. 2 from an unlocked car on the 700 block of Beacom Lane in Merion Station. The thief took about $15 in change.

A leaf blower was reported stolen from the 400 block of Haywood Road in Merion Station on Dec. 2. According to police, someone stole the Little Wonder brand blower after a landscaping crew parked it near their truck.

A theft was discovered Dec. 3 from outside a residence on the 100 block of Henley Road of Penn Wynne. Merchandise—a personal heart rate monitor and a digital pocket pedometer valued at $46—was delivered to the home sometime between 3:30 p.m. and 11:30 p.m., police said.

Public drunkenness

A man was arrested after causing a disturbance at Ruby’s Diner at Suburban Square in Ardmore on Dec. 4, police said. The man, Elliot Quijano, 29, of the unit block of E. Lancaster Avenue in Ardmore, was determined to be under the influence of alcohol to the degree he was a danger to himself and others, police said. Quijano was charged with public drunkenness and disorderly conduct, police said.

Police said a man mistook a police car for a taxi and asked for a ride to Rittenhouse Square from 31 E. Lancaster Ave. in Ardmore at 12:15 a.m. Dec. 1. Police said the 27-year-old man, from San Francisco, had a blood-alcohol level that measured .27. He was cited with public intoxication.

Police said they were contacted by a police officer from another jurisdiction to report a man smoking marijuana in front of the Wawa in Ardmore. Police arrived at the scene and discovered a marijuana cigarette next to the man, a 22-year-old from the unit block of St. Paul’s Road in Ardmore, who was also said to be intoxicated. When questioned about it, he picked it up and put it in his mouth, police said. He was charged with public drunkenness and possession of a small amount of marijuana.
