Ardmore, Haverford Homes Burglarized

Copper downspouts were stolen from two other area houses, police reported.

On Monday, Lower Merion police reported the following incidents from the past week in the Ardmore-Merion-Wynnewood Patch area:

Retail theft: A woman walked out of the Sunglass Hut in Suburban Square about 5 p.m. Oct. 16 with a $310 pair of Prada sunglasses on top of her head, police said. The woman, for whom no full description was available, tried on several pairs of sunglasses before leaving the store; a clerk noticed the Prada pair missing a few minutes later.

Burglary: Someone broke a side window on a house on the 200 block of Roberts Road in Ardmore Oct. 17, between 10:20 a.m. and 2:50 p.m., police said. Two laptop computers, an iPod and Giorgio Armani cologne were stolen.

Theft: About $300 worth of copper downspouts were stolen from the west side of the Palmer Theological Seminary building sometime in the past month, police were told Oct. 18.

Theft from car: Someone stole a driver's license, credit cards, prescription drugs and $160 in cash from an unlocked Ford Taurus outside Petco in Wynnewood on Oct. 18 between 6:30 and 7 p.m., police said. All the items had been in a purse in the car.

Burglary: Several electronic devices were stolen from an apartment on Haverford Station Road between 11:30 a.m. and 6:40 p.m. Oct. 18, police said. There were no signs of force.

Theft: On Oct. 19 between 3 p.m. and 8 p.m. at Lankenau Hospital, police said, $50 was removed from an employee's purse in the nursery.

Theft: Copper downspouts were stolen from a home on the first block of Rock Glen Road in Overbrook Hills sometime before Oct. 20, police said. The homeowner noticed unusually noisy water sounds during a rainstorm, then discovered the downspouts were missing.
