Police Activity: Shooting, Suicide, 27 Thefts and Burglaries

Police responded to 659 incidents in a week.

Lower Merion Township police maintained a steady workload with a fourth consecutive week of between 600 and 700 calls for service. The 659 calls received from Oct. 10 through Oct. 16 followed weeks of 668, 644 and 608 incidents, according to a weekly report posted on the township's website.

A version of the most recent report, sorted by the type of incident, is attached to this article. In the past week, the police calls (which do not necessarily indicate arrests were made or charges filed) include:

  • 1 attempted suicide
  • 1 aviation safety complaint
  • 5 burglaries
  • 2 criminal mischief to automobiles
  • 2 death investigations
  • 7 disorderly conducts
  • 10 domestic disputes (including one with gunfire)
  • 2 drug possession cases
  • 1 DUI
  • 3 fires
  • 1 forgery
  • 8 frauds
  • 1 occupational accident for a police department employee
  • 10 car accidents with injuries
  • 30 car accidents with property damage
  • 3 public intoxication cases
  • 1 simple assault
  • 1 suicide
  • 22 thefts
