Police Activity: Another Busy Week of Car Crashes

Lower Merion police responded to an unusually high number of vehicular accidents.

 police responded to 707 calls for service in the week ending Sunday, Nov. 6, according to a weekly report posted on the township's website.

For the second straight week, 46 of the calls were for vehicular accidents causing property damage. Police also responded to a fatal crash and six others with injuries.

  • 2 burglaries (one on the 500 block of Waldron Terrace in Merion)
  • 7 cases of criminal mischief to automobiles
  • 2 disorderly conduct cases 
  • 2 DUIs 
  • 1 fatal accident (Wednesday afternoon at Anderson and Station avenues in Ardmore)
  • 1 fire
  • 4 fraud cases
  • 6 vehicular accidents with injuries
  • 46 vehicular accidents with property damage
  • 8 cases of public drunkenness
  • 2 simple assaults
  • 1 suicide
  • 13 thefts
  • 2 stolen vehicles (including one late Thursday morning from the 200 block of Jefferson Street in Belmont Hills)
