Nurse Attacked at Lankenau Hospital

A man allegedly punches a Lankenau Hospital emergency room nurse in the face.

Lower Merion Police charged a man with simple assault after he allegedly punched an emergency room nurse at Lankenau Hospital in the face after a dispute over the care of the man's sick relative, police said.

According to police, a man in his late 50s or early 60s confronted two nurses in the emergency room on Nov. 27, at around 11:26 p.m., about the care a family member was receiving, police said.

The man believed the family member was not receiving proper care from the emergency room staff, police said.

The man got into an argument with the two nurses that concluded with the man striking one of the nurses in the face with a closed fist, police said.

Police added that the two nurses tried to restrain the man, but he left the hospital.

Surveillance footage captured the incident, police said, and the man left the hospital in a dark Mazda before he could be apprehended by the police.
