Nap In Yard Leads to Public Drunkenness Citation, Police Say

On Monday afternoon, reported to news media the following incidents from the past week in the Ardmore-Merion-Wynnewood Patch coverage area:
Public drunkenness: On Aug. 21 at 7:30 p.m., police responded to a report of a 53-year-old female passed out in the side yard of a home at E Athens Ave. and Simpson Ave. in Ardmore, according to the report. Police woke the sleeping woman, who appeared to be intoxicated, police said. The woman was arrested and taken to headquarters to sober up; upon her release, police said, she was cited for public drunkenness.
Theft from building: Extension cords and air hoses, in total valued at about $200, were stolen from a home under construction on the 500 block of Ferndale Road during the day on Aug. 22, police said.

Public drunkenness: A 21-year-old Villanova student was cited for public drunkenness at 1:13 a.m. on Aug. 23, after police spotted the man stumbling along Montgomery Ave. and Merion Road, police said.
Public drunkenness: Police received report of an intoxicated male at E Wynnewood Road and Hazelhurst Road; the man, who complained of chest pains, was transported to and cited for public drunkenness, police said.

Theft: $85 in cash was stolen from an unlocked desk in the reception area of a office on Aug. 24, police said.
Public drunkenness and disorderly conduct: Police responded to Fox Glove Road in Wynnewood at 7:53 p.m. on Aug. 24 on the report of a disturbance, police said. A 48-year-old Ardmore man in an agitated state, with slurred speech, was cursing and yelling and had gotten into a fight with a resident who wanted him to leave, according to the police report. When the man refused to leave, police tried to take the man into custody. The man began resisting arrest and was tasered, police said; after being tasered he was brought back to headquarters, where he was cited for disorderly conduct and public drunkenness. The man was taken to Montgomery County Prison, and bail was set at $2,500, police said.
An attempted burglary also occurred in Penn Wynne this week.
