Man Charged With 8 Lower Merion Burglaries

Derrick Carter, was charged Jan. 17 with with 26 counts of burglary, seven counts of attempted burglary, four counts of aggravated assault, as well as numerous lesser charges, police said.

A Philadelphia man has been arrested and charged in connection with eight Lower Merion burglaries as well as other Delaware and Montgomery County burglaries that occurred between December 2011 and November 2012, according to Lower Merion police.

Derrick Carter, was charged Jan. 17 with with 26 counts of burglary, seven counts of attempted burglary, four counts of aggravated assault, as well as numerous lesser charges, police said.

  • 100 block Rolling Rd, Wynnewood
  • 1200 block Drayton Lane, Wynnewood
  • 1200 block Ridgewood Rd, Bryn Mawr
  • 1200 block Remington Rd, Wynnewood
  • 1200 block Pinewood Rd, Villanova
  • 200 block River Rd, Gladwyne
  • 600 Manayunk Rd, Bala Cynwyd
  • Unit block Meredith Rd, Wynnewood

Between December 2011 and November 2012, there was series of residential burglaries throughout Montgomery and Delaware Counties. A year-long, multi-jurisdictional investigation resulted in the arrest of Derrick CARTER of the 4600 block of Sheffield St, Philadelphia. On January 17, 2013

CARTER was charged with 26 counts of burglary, seven (7) counts of attempted burglary, four (4) counts of aggravated assault, as well as numerous lesser charges. Eight (8) of these burglaries occurred in various sections of Lower Merion Township. The burglaries occurred in numerous jurisdictions in Delaware, Montgomery and Bucks Counties.

After a Preliminary Arraignment occurred at District Court 38-1-06 in Penn Valley, CARTER was remanded to the Montgomery County Correctional Facility, after failing to post $250,000 cash bail.
A Preliminary Hearing is tentatively scheduled for January 24, 2013.

Carter has already been charged with a Nov. 21 burglary on the 200 block of Garnet Lane in Bala Cynwyd, as Patch previously reported.
