Lower Merion Issues Burglary Alert

Notify the township if you plan an extended vacation.

Lower Merion Township police on Tuesday used its email and text public-safety alert system to reinforce this message for residents: Take precautions against burglaries.

The message read:

There have been 181 burglaries this year in Lower Merion Township as of September 30th. Residents are encouraged to remain vigilant in reporting suspicious persons and vehicles by dialing 911 and to keep all windows and doors of their homes locked at all times. Residents with alarm systems are advised to use them when away from home and consider using them while home during the day. If you are planning a trip away for an extended period of time you should notify the Lower Merion Police at 610-649-1000 and be placed on the Vacant House Program.
