L.M. Police Will Set Up DUI Checkpoints for Coming Weekend

Combined with roving patrols, the checkpoints are funded by PennDOT.

Don’t say you haven’t been warned.

That’s the word from Lower Merion Township Police, who have announced that they will be conducting “impaired driving checkpoints,” combined with roving patrols for motorists suspected of driving under the influence of alcohol and / or drugs, on the weekend of May 13.

“A sobriety checkpoint is a highly visible, systematic method for stopping vehicles at a selected location, to determine whether motorists are operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol or controlled substances,” township police said, in a statement.

The DUI checkpoint is being funded by a grant from PennDOT. The state agency funded a similar program for Lower Merion Police in September 2010.
