Jewelry, Cash Taken in Merion Burglary, Police Say

Plus, two more incidents in this week's blotter.

Lower Merion police reported the following incidents to news media at a Monday briefing.

Theft: A white Android smartphone valued at $120 was stolen from the Ardmore Community Center on April 1, police said. The complainant placed his phone in a zipped sweatpants pocket and left the pants on the side of the gym while he went to play basketball; the phone was missing when he returned.

Criminal mischief: Sometime between 11 p.m. on April 2 and 7:20 a.m. on April 3, three tires were flattened on a car on the 100 block of Walnut Avenue in Ardmore, according to the report. This is the third time this has happened, police said.

Burglary: Several pieces of jewelry and an unknown amount of cash were stolen from a home on the 400 block of N Highland Ave. in Merion Station on April 5, police said. The victims told police they left the house at 7:15 p.m. and locked the doors; they returned home around 11 p.m. and found ransacking throughout the house, according to the report.
