Attempted Burglary at Dakota Pizza, Police Say

Lower Merion police reported the following incidents to news media at a Tuesday briefing. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, they do not indicate guilt or a conviction.

Strong arm robbery: TD Bank at 401 W Lancaster Ave. in Haverford was robbed at 3:12 p.m. on Feb. 12, police said. The suspect is described as a black male in his 20s, of a medium build, 5’8 or 5’9 with dark skin and a thin mustache. He was wearing a white dress shirt and black coat the time of the robbery. An undisclosed amount of cash was taken, and the investigation is ongoing, police said.

Philadelphia police believe this burglary is linked with a recent burglary in Bala Cynwyd and another in Roxborough.

Public drunkenness: A 54-year-old Haverford woman was cited for public drunkenness at 10:07 p.m. on Feb. 12 after an officer observed the woman walk into a metal fence in front of the Haverford School. When stopped, the officer had to hold the woman up to keep her from falling.

Theft: A roll of copper wire worth $500 was stolen from a construction site at Lankenau Hospital in Wynnewood sometime between 3:30 p.m. on Feb. 8 and noon on Feb. 11, police said.

Attempted burglary: Sometime between 10 p.m. Feb. 16 and 11:30 a.m. Feb. 17, someone attempted to pry their way into Dakota Pizza in Wynnewood, police said. No entry was gained.

Public drunkenness: A 51-year-old Philadelphia man was removed from a SEPTA bus and cited for public drunkenness on Feb. 17, police said. At 10:55 p.m., an officer on patrol was stopped by a SEPTA driver at 259 City Ave. in Merion, and the driver told police that there was a problem with a passenger on his bus, according to the report. The passenger was slumped over and difficult to wake, but when police succeeded in waking the man he appeared agitated and was removed from the bus. The man refused a preliminary breath test, police said.
