Ardmore Pharmacy Robbed at Knifepoint

Tuesday morning, a man stole a number of narcotics from J.B. Merrick Apothecary on Cricket Avenue, according to a township spokesperson.

A masked man wielding a knife robbed an Ardmore pharmacy Tuesday morning, according to Lower Merion Township spokesperson Tom Walsh.

On Tuesday around 10:18 a.m., a masked man entered on Cricket Avenue and demanded a number of narcotics, Walsh said. The man was wielding a knife; store employees handed the requested drugs over, and the man fled, according to Walsh.

The man is described as a 6-foot black man, wearing a sweatshirt, jeans and ski mask at the time of the robbery, Walsh said.

Merrick Apothecary, located at 31 Cricket Ave., has been in Ardmore since 1938. The pharmacy offers prescriptions and medications, diabetic supplies and more.

A representative of the pharmacy offered no comment, besides stating that police are investigating the robbery.

Is that the Apothecary next to the General Store or the Five And Dime? Oh, it's across the parking lot from the Woolworth's? Got it.
