Police: Ardmore Man Assaulted Ex and Her 11-Year-Old Daughter

He allegedly slammed the child's finger in a door, causing a crush injury.

An Ardmore man faces multiple assault charges after he got into a fracas with his ex-girlfriend and her 11- and 13-year-old daughters last week, Haverford Township Police are reporting.

William Bryant Dupee, 37, faces five counts of simple assault and harassment stemming from the bizarre Sept. 24 incident. He was previously charged with simple assault in Haverford Township in November of 2010.

According to court documents, Dupee’s ex-girlfriend told police she went to his Lorraine Avenue home with her two daughters the evening of Monday, Sept. 24 to return $100 he had lent her to buy him groceries. She said he was drinking when they arrived and he began attempting to provoke her 11-year-old daughter.

After enough name calling, the child, in frustration, threw a fork on the table. “You threw that at me!” Dupee allegedly yelled at the girl.

When she and her mother got up to leave—the 13-year-old daughter was waiting in the car—Dupee pushed the girl out the door, slamming it on her finger. (Her mother later took her to Bryn Mawr Hospital, where her finger was diagnosed with a “crush” injury and splinted.) He then grabbed the mother by the wrist, restraining her, police said.

Finally, Dupee’s mother intervened and let the woman leave the house. As she and her daughters, crying hysterically, drove away from the home, Dupee reportedly chased them on foot, throwing food at them as he ran, police said.

The woman reported these events to Haverford Township Police on Sept. 26. She explained that she and Dupee broke up because he was abusive.

William Bryant Dupee was arrested, arraigned, and confined to Delaware County Prison when he was unable to post bail. He faces a preliminary hearing on Oct. 4.
