Alleged Lord & Taylor Shoplifter is Suspect in Havertown Robbery

A Philadelphia man who was taken in to police custody for allegedly attempting to shoplift from the Bala Cynwyd Lord & Taylor is also believed to be responsible for an armed robbery in Haverford, according to the Lower Merion Township Police Department.

On Dec. 26 loss prevention personnel stopped Willie Wayne Terry, 55, of Parkside Ave., Philadelphia, as he attempted to exit the Lord & Taylor department store at 145 E. City Ave. after he was allegedly seen placing watches into his jacket pockets. Loss prevention recovered four watches valued at $600, as well as drug paraphernalia, from Terry’s person and subsequently escorted him to a holding room to await arrival of the police.  When Lower Merion police arrived on the scene, they recognized Terry as a suspect in the Dec. 25 armed robbery of a Havertown Twp. CVS pharmacy and contacted police in Haverford Twp. 

Lower Merion Twp. police are charging Terry with felony retail theft, receiving stolen property and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia in connection to the alleged Lord & Taylor crime. Haverford Township Police will be filing charges against Terry in connection the CVS robbery.

Lower Merion Police said other area police departments have similar open cases and will be focusing their investigations on Terry.
