Ardmore Woman Killed in Skiing Accident, Reports Say

Natalie Egleston, 48, of Ardmore, was vacationing in Aspen.

A 48-year-old Ardmore woman died Monday as a result of injuries from a skiing accident in Aspen, CO, the Aspen Daily News reports. Natalie Egleston, 48, suffered traumatic brain injuries when another skiier collided with her on Aspen Mountain.

Egleston was skiing that day with her boyfriend, according to The Daily Mail.

Pitkin County deputy coroner told Aspen Daily News that Egleston was not skiing at the time of the collision, but waiting for friends.

Around 3:45 p.m. Monday, a female skiier from New York City collided with Egleston, Aspen Daily News said. Ski patrol found Egleston unresponsive, and she was transported to Aspen Valley Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

The Daily Mail writes:

County deputy coroner Eric Hansen said Egleston’s fatal injury resulted from her head hitting the snow. She also suffered cracked ribs from the impact.

According to Jeff Lumsden, Egleston's 'brain stem snapped' as a result of the crash.

The second skiier suffered minor injuries, and both skiiers were wearing helmets.

Pitkin County Sheriff Joe DiSalvo told Aspen Daily News that the collision does not appear to have been unusually strong, and it “may have been a perfect storm of circumstances” that led to her death.

Egleston earned a BS in Business Management and Marketing from Cornell University, and her LinkedIn profile lists her as the president of Indoor Direct LLC, a marketing company.

Egleston's brother Brian told Denver Westword that she had moved back to the Philadelphia area recently after spending time in San Francisco.
